このたび、開智日本橋学園中学・高等学校は国際バカロレア機構(IB)のディプロマ・プログラム(DP)認定校となったことをお知らせします。2018年6月のミドル・イヤーズ・プログラム（MYP）認定に続くもので、中高6年一貫教育の中でのMYP/DPというIB学習環境が整いました。今後、IBワールドスクール(IB認定校)の一員として学習者主体の探究型の学びをさらに進化させていく所存です。

当校の教育理念は「世界中の人々や文化を理解、尊敬し、平和で豊かな国際社会の実現に貢献するリーダーの育成」です。この教育理念の実現に向け、中１〜高1のMYPでは生徒主体の探究型の学びを定着させ、高２〜３でのDPでの高度な学術的取り組みに昇華させていくことを目指します。さらに、MYP履修時より多くの授業を英語で実施し、英語「で」学ぶ習慣も身につけることにより、DPでは「バイリンガルIBディプロマ」の修得を目指します¹ 。日本を含めた世界の高等教育機関でのバイリンガルなDP修了生に対する評価は高く、その意味でもこれからDPプログラムを履修していく生徒の成長が楽しみです。

当校のIBカリキュラムに基づいた厳密な授業展開や成績評価は、MYPにおいてはDLC（デュアルランゲージクラス）とGLC（グローバルリーディングクラス）で実践されています。DPの学びは同プログラムを選択し進級した生徒が実践していくものです。ただし、学園とIBの教育理念は共通しており全教職員がIBの教育手法を学んでいます。LC（リーディングクラス）やAC（アドバンストクラス）、それに高校課程でもIBの手法を取り入れ、生徒主体の探究型・プロジェクト型・国際理解教育をさらに発展させていきます。

今回の認定にあたっては、生徒、保護者、関係の皆様のご協力無くしては実現しませんでした。あらためて皆様に感謝申し上げます。そして、多くの新入生が当校の生徒主体・探究型の学びに加わってくれることを期待しています。

国際バカロレアとは

国際バカロレア機構（本部ジュネーブ）が提供する国際的な教育プログラム。国際バカロレア（IB：International Baccalaureate）は、1968年、チャレンジに満ちた総合的な教育プログラムとして、世界の複雑さを理解して、そのことに対処できる生徒を育成し、生徒に対し、未来へ責任ある行動をとるための態度とスキルを身に付けさせるとともに、国際的に通用する大学入学資格（国際バカロレア資格）を与え、大学進学へのルートを確保することを目的として設置。現在、認定校に対する共通カリキュラムの作成や、世界共通の国際バカロレア試験、国際バカロレア資格の授与等を実施。

 

ミドル・イヤーズ・プログラム（MYP）　【1,398校　(国内：17校)】11歳～16歳を対象として、青少年に、これまでの学習と社会のつながりを学ばせるプログラム。どのような言語でも提供可能。1994年設置。

ディプロマ・プログラム（DP）　【3,209校　(国内：38校)】16歳～19歳を対象としたプログラムであり、所定のカリキュラムを2年間履修し、最終試験を経て所定の成績を収めると、国際的に認められる大学入学資格（国際バカロレア資格）が取得可能。原則として、英語、フランス語又はスペイン語で実施。 1969年設置。

¹当校のDPでは、グループ２（第２言語：英語）のほか、グループ３（個人と社会）の科目を英語で履修する予定です。そのため、２ヶ国語で学ぶ資質も証明する、特別な「バイリンガルIBディプロマ」の修了資格を得る予定です。これはデュアル・ランゲージ・ディプロマ（いわゆる「日本語DP」）とは一部性質の異なるものです。

Kaichi Nihonbashi Gakuen Junior and Senior High School (KNG) is proud to announce that it has been officially authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization to implement the Diploma Programme (DP) in Tokyo, Japan. This achievement follows KNG’s earlier authorization to implement the Middle Years Program (MYP) in June 2018. Through the MYP and DP Programs, KNG aims to further strengthen the school’s learning environment and continue to foster 21st century leaders through inquiry-based learning.

KNG’s educational philosophy is “to develop global-minded leaders who respect and appreciate how cultural diversity enriches our own lives and furthermore, actively contribute to the realization of a peaceful and affluent international society.” To this end, KNG seeks to cultivate learner autonomy, self-guided inquiry and all aspects of the IB Learner Profile throughout the MYP Program (ages 12~16). As learners progress into the DP Program (ages 16~18), emphasis is placed on helping students further nurture their higher order thinking and academic skills in preparation for university studies.  Synthesized in parallel with the immersion education from the MYP stage, the KNG DP curriculum will allow students to earn the bilingual diploma ².   

The IB educational framework plays a significant role in curriculum development and assessment strategy at KNG, especially in the two MYP IB courses – the Dual Language Class (DLC) and the Global Leading Class (GLC), and for students who elect to further advance their studies in the DP Program. However, the school’s educational philosophy and core elements of IB-style learning are evident throughout all offered academic courses including the Leading Class (LC), Advanced Class (AC), and high school programs. KNG faculty members regularly undertake IB-related professional development and utilize teaching and learning strategies that foster international mindedness through independent inquiry-based and project-based learning.

Middle Years Programme (MYP) 1,398 Schools　(Japan: 17校)Age range: 11-16Established: 1994

The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. Students may undertake the program in any language.

 

Diploma Years Programme (DP) 3,209 School　(Japan: 38校)Age range: 16-19Established: 1969

The DP aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. Over the course of two years, students will complete the prescribed curriculum before undertaking external examinations that assess students’ academic achievement. Students are able to earn the internationally recognized IB DIploma. Students must undertake the program in either English, French or Spanish.

²KNG DP will offer not only Group 2 (Language Acquisition) but also Group 3 (Individuals and Societies) subjects in English.  With sufficient academic performance, this would qualify students to earn the “bilingual IB diploma” which would certify the bilingual academic ability of students.
